LEEDS BADGERS 425 - WARWICKSHIRE WOLVES 354
No, don't rub your eyes - that really was the scoreline at the
end of the 57-hour soccathon we reported on Dot News
yesterday. The two teams clashed (probably more and more
slowly!) at Warwick University over the weekend, to raise
£10,000 for the Meningitis Trust. They were moved to do so by
the death from the terrible illness of former Badgers player
Jamie Burdett. It was the teams' second soccathon, tough for
all of them - but worth it. "The hardest thing was playing
through two nights" says organiser Simon Lynes. "It got pretty
cold and we got cramps." All players played in all positions in
the two teams, only snatching five minute breaks, napping in
the tents provided (picture) if they could. There was only one
injury, to a player's foot - but even that team member came
back from hospital to play on for 10 hours.

Makes some of the rolling about on the pitch in international
football look PRETTY PATHETIC! Hope they do get their Guinness
Record - they so deserve it.
