OLDEST MAN IS A SCOUT

Britain’s oldest man has become a scout – 100 years after he first joined his local troop. Henry Allingham (pictured) spent six weeks in the scouts as a boy but had to leave because his mum couldn’t afford the uniform. When 6th Brighton Scouts heard he’d missed out, they asked the 112-year-old to join them as part of their 30th birthday celebrations. Mr Allingham was presented with a special certificate by 12-year-old scout Chris Denham, who said: “It was great to meet Henry, it’s cool that he’s exactly 100 years older than I am and I feel really proud to have met him.” Simon Carter from the Scout Association said: “He is certainly the oldest living scout in the whole of Europe and probably the oldest living scout in the world.”

Coolio! It just shows you’re never too old to do anything!
