Chapter 6 - There must be a way...

The Grimbles! There they were again - the little creatures who made you type things wrong, even when you were sure you'd done it rught. NO! ...done it right. (See? They're everywhere!)

"Hang on a bit Sid though" said Wizard, his big spaniel eyes clouded with confusion. "What have the Grimbles got to do with shopping?"

"Ah!" said Sid. "I didn't explain. I'm one of the team at www.netshopnet.com. You can ring us up any time of the day or night and order anything you like from us, and we'll deliver it."

He twirled round proudly in front of them, one wheel still squeaking. Sure enough, in orange letters on a blue background along his side was a sign: "www.netshopnet.com" it read. "You want it - we've got it!"

"But..." Wizard went on, "I still don't understand... why would anyone want - all these loo rolls and porridge and cotton reels - not to mention thirteen aubergines?"

Sid frowned. "They don't" he said. "I'm supposed to be delivering all this to - let's see - the Watts family in Coggeshall, in Essex. Been there before. Nice crowd, they are - especially Katie the daughter, though she does insist on riding me round the garden after I've been unloaded.

He sighed. "That's why my wheel's squeaking, actually - it got all muddy last time I went there and Reg in Maintenance forgot to oil me yesterday. I'm sure it's the Grimbles again."

He rattled his locking chain crossly. "You see, it was Dolly who took this delivery order and the Grimbles are always messing her about. I think what's happened is that they've fixed it so that she's put a number "1" in front of all the orders - so instead of 3 aubergines for a moussaka Mrs Watts is going to get 13, instead of 4 packets of loo paper she'll get 14,instead of 1 cotton reel she'll get 11, instead of... " His voice trailed away and his moustache quivered again. "What am I going to do?"

"Can't you just take it all back?" asked Dot.

Sid gave a little shake so his wheel squeaked again. "If we didn't have some way of explaining it, that'd only get Dolly in a fix" he said. "The Grimbles have already got her into trouble for sending 48 packets of nappies to a 5-star restaurant... no, no we've got to think of something else."

It certainly was a puzzler for Dot and her crew. They all went into big thinking mode - Dot resting her chin on her hand, Wizard pacing up and down muttering to himself, and Mr Mouse gazing into the distance like a mouse thinking great thoughts.

It was actually Mr Mouse who broke the spell.

"Got it!" he exclaimed. "We just gotta do what we set out to do - and we'll find a guy who knows how to de-Grimble anything." He leapt up on Sid's handlebar. "Hold on tight everyone - we're on our way to meet the Right Honourable H.D. Spellchecker!"
